About Earned Value Management

Earned Value Management is a project control process based on a structured approach to planning, cost collection and performance measurement, assisting project and programme managers to measure overall project performance. It facilitates the integration of project scope, time and cost objectives and the establishment of a baseline plan for performance measurement and is used to find variances in projects based on the comparison of worked performed and work planned.

'EVM enables the creation of accurate forecasts and reports to satisfy even the most stringent governance requirements. It is widely accepted in the public and private sectors as a tool for Project Managers to measure actual project performance and to predict future performance. EVM is at the heart of the best project controls systems' Richard Pharro, CEO, APMG.

Earned Value Management was launched in Australia in early 2011. The accreditation and certification for Earned Value Management is managed by the APM Group, based in the UK.
