"Leadership - the key to success
in public projects" David Corkleton
Systemic project failure has been addressed over the past few years
by introducing a best practice focus with OGC methods and training.
However, governance alone is not enough. Projects are about people.
Without good leadership, the lynchpins of project success provided
by the PRINCE2 and MSP methodologies will not hold. Methodologies
cannot replace the Business Case, set objectives or take the role
of key stakeholders. The use of a methodology will not dictate success.
Critical are the core leadership skills of intuition,
judgement and experience.
"Choosing the right project"
Chris Pond A look at the effective use of Microsoft Project
Portfolio Server 2007 in creating portfolios aligned with strategic
goals and the place of this in the Microsoft EPM solution for organisations.
Portfolio server is only a tool. It can provide significant benefits
and assist in enabling change WHEN ORGANISATIONS HAVE :
- designed business objectives
- methods for selecting portfolios of projects
- a methodology backed by processes and tools in which staff
are trained.
