What is this qualification?
Certificate IV of Project Management is a nationally recognised qualification based on theoretical and practical learning at the Australian Qualifications Framework level 4.

Who is it aimed at?
The qualification is aimed at project team members, project office support staff and project managers who wish to reinforce and formalise their on the job skills with a qualification.

Who should do this?
Project Management is now widely recognised as a career requiring certain skills, knowledge and qualifications. Formal qualifications are a prerequisite for many organisations employing Project Managers. In these uncertain times, formal qualifications may assist in securing a position where the competition is stiff.

How will I achieve a Certificate IV in Project Management?
In order to achieve a Certificate IV in Project Management, you will need to attend the full 3 day course.  (But see Recognition of Prior Learning)
Assessments are competency-based, and therefore there are no formal exams.  The course focuses on the development of relevant skills and knowledge through practical activities. Participants are assessed through a combination of activities and exercises based on actual and simulated project management scenarios.
As well as attending the course and participating in group activities, you will also be required to complete a home-based assessment after the course is completed. By offering our course on 1 day per week with directions on work to complete before the next class, you should be able to complete all of the required assessment activities within a few days of course completion.  However, you will have 3 months to complete the required work if necessary.
Once you have completed the course, you will obtain a Certificate of Attendance.  Once your home-based activities have been completed, these will be assessed by a qualified Assessor.  If you are assessed as competent, you will then receive a Statement of Results along with the nationally recognised Certificate recognising your qualification.

What happens if I am not assessed as competent?
Your trainer will contact you with a plan of the steps you need to take to address the areas where you were not successful.  If you believe the assessment result was unfair or invalid then there are Grievance Procedures which can be implemented.

Organisations?
Organisations that provide their staff with formal training in Project Management may see improvement in staff retention as well as providing them with a competitive advantage over organisations with unqualified project management teams.  Talk to us about in house training or bulk discounts for our public courses.
